WAY OT was established by Naomi Cheang - an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about finding solutions to complex problems and removing barriers so children and adults with physical disabilities can thrive and flourish in life.
We provide a mobile, home and community based Occupational Therapy service primarily in the Northern Sydney and Central Coast of NSW. We are specialists in working with participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Naomi has over 20 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist. She has worked at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, the Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney, the Children's Hospital at Randwick and Westmead Hospital. She also spent 6 years living and working in Tajikistan (Central Asia), where she helped to establish a community based rehabilitation program in village communities in the aftermath of an epidemic of Polio. During that time she learned to speak Persian.
Naomi has worked with children and adults with a range of complex disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and other neuromuscular conditions, Spina Bifida and Multiple Sclerosis, as well as people with many other acquired and aging related disabilities and those requiring palliative care.
Naomi has a special interest in the prescription of complex wheelchairs and specialised seating, as well as complex home modifications. She has completed specialist training in both these areas and is an approved AT and home modifications assessor for the NDIS.
Naomi has an honours degree in Occupational Therapy and a Masters of International Public Health from the University of Sydney.
Naomi is married to Aaron and they have a preschool aged daughter and a teenage son. In her spare time Naomi enjoys cooking, gardening, interior design, op shopping and walking and talking with family and friends.
